Selma Shapwa, commonly known as KaSelly (born 1996), in the Okongo village of Ohangwena Region is a Namibian self-taught fashion designer[1][2]
Early life and career[edit]
Born in Ohangwena region, in Okongo village[3] and currently based in Windhoek. She started her career at the age of 13 when she started hand sewing her clothes and of her few friends.[4] She then went to the Namibia University of Science and Technology to further her career[5]. KaSelly started doing a small business and bought a machine when a few people started supporting her business.[4]
Brands[edit]
Kaselly is the founder of Kaselly Designs brand which started off as a small business and grown larger. The fashion designer has also invented another brand titled "Bold_Like_Gold" which was launched end of 2020.[4][3][1]
Achievements[edit]
Kaselly earned a certificate for participating in a Matrix Fashion Show, which was held at Swakopmund in 2018 and this was her first achievement.[5] Kaselly's brand Kaselly Designs won the Nedbank Social Media Competition as the Women-led Business in 2021, and Scream All Youth Award-Nigeria's Fashion Brand of the year.[6]
