Kagwe Mungai
Kagwe Mungai (born 31 January 1991), known professionally as Kagwe Mungai, is a Kenyan singer, producer, brand ambassador and entrepreneur. He is also the Co-founder.[1] and CEO of OBY Afrika; a creative media and production outfit based in Nairobi.

Music Career
Kagwe Mungai was introduced to the jazz and pop-rock culture while living in Johannesburg, South Africa. He would later form a jazz and rock band, where he played the drums and sang lead. At 16, he was introduced to a music producer in Uganda, who taught him the basics of production[2]. He subsequently studied Music at the University of Southampton in England and spent the rest of his time in the UK building his musical skills and developing his debut mixtape (EP) "It Only Gets Better".
When he came back to Kenya, Kagwe Mungai joined Taurus Musik, a Pan-African record label[3]. Here he pursued his music from an artist and producer level, which saw him collaborating with notable artists in the industry such as Muthoni the Drummer Queen, Fena Gitu, King Kaka, Niniola (Nigeria)[4], Blinky Bill, Kansoul among others. Aside from producing his own music, Kagwe Mungai also went into more elaborate music production for Sauti Sol and Eric Wainaina [5] among others.
In 2019, Kagwe Mungai released his first studio album titled "Spectrum",[6][7][8][9] a compilation of numerous genres and songs that were produced mainly by Kagwe Mungai. With over 1 Million streams, Spectrum earned him the rank of second-highest streamed Kenyan artist on Spotify through 2019-2020[10]. He has since released more music [11] [12] and is currently working on his second studio album.
Awards
In 2014, Nishike by Sauti Sol, produced by Kagwe Mungai[13] was awarded the 2014 MTV Europe Awards for Best African Song[14]. Kagwe Mungai also won the Pulse music video of the year award in 2017 and was nominated for the best East African act by Afrimma in 2018[15]
Brand Partnerships
As a brand ambassador, Kagwe Mungai has represented brands such as Ciroc Vodka[16][17][18], Durex[19], Lyft Pouches, Aramanda and Keexs. Kagwe Mungai has also served on the board of directors for Switch TV, a Kenyan Media House in partnership with the Red Cross[20] [21]
