Kaksian (قاقسيي) is a constructed language (conlang) created for the fictional country of Sahrastan. It is primarily spoken in the region of Kask, the capital of Sahrastan, and serves as the **second official language** alongside Sahrastani Arabic.
Kaksian is part of the fictional "Sahrastani language family," which blends elements from Arabic, Persian, and Turkic roots with invented grammar rules and phonemes.
Phonology
Kaksian includes several unique sounds:
- ڻ = "sch" (like Russian щ)
- ٽ = "ch" (like English chair)
- ڀ = "bh" (voiced aspirated b)
- ٺ = vowel o
Script
Kaksian uses a modified Arabic-based script, known as the **Sahrastani Arabic alphabet**, which includes both standard and fictional letters.
Grammar
The grammar of Kaksian is agglutinative, with postpositions instead of prepositions. It uses subject–object–verb (SOV) word order.
Vocabulary
Kaksian borrows heavily from its parent language, Sahrastani Arabic, but also includes original words and compound constructions.
Examples:
- Zhazara – mountain
- Ogham – star
- Mi'naan – people
- Shettan – thunder
Use in Media
Kaksian appears in writings, inscriptions, and songs within the fictional world of Sahrastan, particularly in the world-building project by the Planet Dialogues creator.
