Kalka Shades is an outdoor sporting venue in Rockhampton, Queensland, situated in the suburb of Koongal.

Field hockey and cricket are predominantly played at Kalka Shades.[1][2]

In 2016, Rockhampton Regional Council, intending to relocate hockey from the flood prone suburb of Koongal to the northern suburb of Parkhurst, explored the possibility of relocating the city's hockey infrastructure from Kalka Shades to a 115 hectare block in Olive Street.[3][4][5] However, prohibitive costs prevented this from happening.[6]

The decision to retain hockey facilities at Kalka Shades was made with commitments from both council and the Queensland Government to upgrade the venue and implement flood mitigation measures, including the construction of a new above-ground clubhouse and the installation of a second synthetic turf playing field.[7][8][9]

In 2018, Kalka Shades was announced as the host venue for the 2019 Oceania Cup.[10][11][12][13][14]
