Kandi Raj College, established in 1950,[1] is a college in Kandi, Murshidabad district, West Bengal, India. It offers undergraduate courses in arts and sciences and is affiliated to the University of Kalyani.[2]
History
Kandi Raj College was established in 1950, to provide low-cost higher education. The first president was Arun Chandra Sinha and the first principal was D.L. Das. At that time it was affiliated to University of Calcutta.
The college started with 61 students on 4 September 1950, occupying five rooms of Kandi Raj High School. The Government of West Bengal made it "Government Sponsored" during the 1956–57 session. Undergraduate courses first started in 1957–58.
After Atish Chandra Sinha died in March, 2010, his brother Bikash Sinha, became president.[3]
