Karakib (Arabic: كراكيب) is an Egyptian animated television series. Made in CGI, it showed in Ramadan of 2007 on Channel One. The two main characters are voiced by Ashraf Abdel Baqi and Ahmed Rizk, while the theme song is performed by Mahmoud El Esseily. Ahmed Amin is the chief screenwriter and Sameh Mostafa directed.
Synopsis[edit]
Ticho and Pogo, the two protagonists, live on a planet in another solar system in the Milky Way. The planet is highly advanced and wealthy, allowing its residents time for interstellar travel. Ticho views travel as an expedition of scientific discovery, while Pogo sees it as a chance to try another planet’s food and accommodations since he loves leisure. They ride a two-passenger tourist space shuttle that breaks down and crash-lands on a small planet named Karabib, to which they’ve never been and from which they cannot escape; nothing is there but an old broken sign proclaiming its name.
Style[edit]
The series is fairly episodic and targeted at the 9-14 age range. The prosocial messaging is aimed at modeling respectful discourse with others of different opinions.
