Biography

Born and raised in the New Jagannathapuram area of ​​North Chennai in Chennai district, he currently lives in Puliyanthoppu Kannikapuram. His parents are Jayaraman Shakuntala and his paternal grandfather worked as a policeman in the British government. He holds a master's degree in history from Annamalai University. He currently lives in Chennai with his wife Abhirami, daughter Yazhisai Bharathi, and son Mugil Modhiyan. He started writing poetry in the 1990s and gave up writing poetry after reading Kahlil Gibran's collection of poems called Broken Wings of the Lovebird. He decided that prose was the right writing form for him. He started writing short stories, but none of that was published. He started writing novels. So far, he has written eight novels and a collection of short stories Initially, when the first three novels were published, Karan Karki was called the face of Chennai in the modern Tamil literary field by many people, but his subsequent novels such as Marapalam, Ekkapal, Sattaikari, and Karunthulai created a perception among readers and critics that he was a writer who considered the conditions beyond Tamil Nadu. His works are currently being translated into languages ​​such as English, Estonia, Korea, Turkey, and Odisha. He is very interested in writing novels, which are the main form of literature. His first novel, Aruppadum Pandu, created a unique place for him in the Tamil literary field, while his third novel, Karuppar Nagaram, brought him to a wider literary field.
