Karangsambung-Karangbolong Geopark is a conservation area management concept that harmonizes geological, biological and cultural diversity, through the principles of conservation, education, and development that are managed in the Karangsambung to Karangbolong areas, Kebumen Regency, Central Java, Indonesia.[1] This earth park is the only geopark or earth park in Central Java as well as the first in Central Java. In November 2018, this earth park officially became a National Geopark.[2] Overall the Karangsambung-Karangbolong Geopark area is divided into 3 (three) segments, namely the Karangsambung Region (Karangsambung nature reserve area in the North), the Sempor Region (the middle part) and the Ayah Coastal Area which is an old karst and volcanic area (South side). The Geopark Information Center is located on the Karangsambung LIPI Campus, Karangsambung Village, Kebumen Regency.[3] [4] [5]
Karangsambung-Karangbolong geopark is also a popular tourist attraction for its ancient geological site, mountain views, karst areas, coastal areas and the customs and traditions of the Karangsambung-Karangbolong community.[6] [7] [8] This earth park is the only geopark or earth park in Central Java as well as the first in Central Java. In November 2018, this earth park officially became a National Geopark.[9] In 2021, the Karamsambung-Karangbolong geopark is targeted to become a UNESCO Global Geopark. One of the efforts made by the Kebumen Regency government is to form committees that will later take real steps to achieve these targets.[10]

The Karangsambung-Karangbolong National Park area is located in Kebumen Regency, Central Java Province with an area of around 54.3 thousand hectares spread across 12 sub-districts in 117 villages / wards. The topography of this earth park area is in the form of mountains, hills, lowlands, and coastal Indian Ocean. This earth park is 19.8 Km from the capital city of Kebumen, Kebumen Regency.[11] The Geopark Information Center is located at the Karangsambung LIPI Campus, Karangsambung Village, Kebumen Regency.
