Karen Mwendera is South Africa based Malawian award-winning multimedia journalist.

She has been the curator for the Forbes Africa 30 under 30 lists which profiles outstanding young achievers from across Africa in business, sports, tech, and creatives fields since 2019. [1][2]

Early life[edit]

Mwendera was born in 1994 in Lilongwe, Malawi. She spent most of her childhood growing up in Swaziland. She studied Journalism and Media studies which she at Pearson Institute of higher Education (Formerly known as Midrand Graduate Institute). She then pursued her post grad qualification also in journalism at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Career[edit]

Mwendera’s career began in 2016 as a mobile journalist for eNCA. She then was appointed an ambassador for Mapp Africa. In 2017 she became a part time news anchor at and African news channel called Love World Sat. A year later she went back to eNCA and worked as a news producer for a youth show called eNCA Backchat. In 2018, Mwendera was hired by ABN (Africa Business News) to work as a multimedia journalist for Forbes Africa and Forbes Woman Africa.
