Karin Ann
Karin Ann (born May 10, 2002) is an artist, singer-songwriter and activist from Slovakia. Her first EP, Lonely Together, was released on 26 May 2021. In November 2021, it was announced that she will be supporting Alfie Templeman at his European Tour in 2022.
Career
In June 2021, Karin Ann toured with Polish singer-songwriter Sanah, on her #NOSORY tour as the support act.
The New York Times described the singer as the voice of Generation Z in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.[1][2]
Activism
Karin Ann is an advocate for the LGBT community, one of her most notable moments being in 2021 when she raised a rainbow flag whilst airing on live Polish Television. She then went on to dedicate her song to the Polish LGBTQ community and exclaimed: "You deserve love, you deserve to feel safe. I am with you, I stand here with you and I love you." LGBTQ rights in Poland are ranked the lowest in European Union countries, according to reports from ILGA-Europe[3] in 2021.
She also makes references in her music, such as her song "Babyboy", describing it in an Instagram post in February 2021, as representing two different points of view. Karin mentions that one view, portrayed as a person, is that of 'the society we live in' and the other, portrayed as a second person, is a representation of 'young people who aren't happy with the way our society discriminates whether based on gender, sexual orientation or race'.
Artistry
Karin Ann is frequently involved in the styling and direction of her music videos, including her merchandise previewed on her website.[4]
