Karl Ludwig Reimer (December 25, 1845 – January 15, 1983) was a German chemist and businessman who, together with Ferdinand Tiemann, discovered the Reimer-Tiemann reaction.
Reimer was born in Leipzig, Germany on December 25, 1945, the son of bookseller Karl August Reimer (1801 – 1858). He began his dissertation at the Humboldt University of Berlin (then named Friedrich Wilhelm University) with August Wilhelm von Hofmann, and received his doctorate in July of 1871.
