Selma Shapwa (born 1996), known as Kaselly, is a Namibian fashion designer[1]
Early life and career
Kaselly was born in Ohangwena region, Okongo village.[2] She is currently based in Windhoek. She started her career at the age of 13 when she started hand sewing clothes for herself and a few friends.[3] She then went to the Namibia University of Science and Technology to further her career[4]
Kaselly started a small business and bought a machine when a few people began supporting her business.[3]
Brands
Kaselly is the founder of Kaselly Designs, a brand which started as a small business and has grown larger. The fashion designer has also created another brand titled "Bold_Like_Gold", which was launched at the end of 2020.[3][2][1]
Achievements
Kaselly earned a certificate for participating in a Matrix Fashion Show, which was held at Swakopmund in 2018, and this was her first achievement.[4] Kaselly's brand, Kaselly Designs, won the Nedbank Social Media Competition as the Women-led Business in 2021, and the Scream All Youth Award – Nigeria's Fashion Brand of the year.[5]
