Kathryn O'Driscoll

Kathryn O'Driscoll (née Jeanes; born 1987) is a British poet, U.K. slam champion, and spoken word artist.[1]

Biography[edit]

O'Driscoll grew up in Bridport, England.[2] and now lives in Bath, England. [3] She studied creative writing at Bath Spa University.[4] and founded the university's Spoken Word Society, as well as being president of the Comedy Society. During her time at university she founded the first PRIDE event in Bath, Bath Spa PRIDE, which she ran for five years.

O'Driscoll won the title of U.K. Slam Champion in March 2021. [3] She then represented England in the World Cup of Slam (aka La Coupe Du Monde) [5] and made it to the World Cup Finals, coming 5th overall in May 2021.[3]

She won Young Volunteer of the Year at the Bath Chairman's Awards in 2015.[6]

She was included in the Bristol Post's Pink List (The 73 most influential LGBTQ+ people in Bristol) in June 2021.[7]

Published works[edit]

O'Driscoll's poems have been published in several journals, magazines and anthologies including Bad Betty Press' The Dizziness of Freedom [8], 404 Ink Magazine (Earth and Space Issues) [9], and have been broadcast on BBC Radio Bristol, and she was a featured poet on on Sky ArtsBAFTA winning[10] spoken word show Life and Rhymes hosted by Benjamin Zephaniah.[3] O'Driscoll's debut collection will be published by Verve Poetry Press in Spring 2022.
