Katie Parker (born January 5, 1986) is an American actress who is best known for her roles as Callie in the movie Absentia (2011), Poppy Hill in the Netflix horror series The Haunting of Hill House (2018) and Perdita Willoughby in the follow-up The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020).[1][2][3]
Career[edit]
Parker began her career with a small appearance on the TV series The Young and the Restless in 2008.
In 2011, she made her debut as Callie in the film Absentia, directed by Mike Flanagan. That same year, she participated in the series The Therapist as Amber McGowan and joined the cast of the film The Family, playing Ruby.
Later, in 2013, she starred in This Is Ellen, a short film by John Salcido, and had a role in the film Oculus, written and directed by Mike Flanagan, as Annie.[4][5]
In 2014, Parker was featured in several short films, L'agonie Pardonné by Tori Pope, The Tokyo Princess directed by Travis Greene and Daryl Perle, Tribute by John Salcido, and Entity by Michael May. That same year, she had two appearances on the TV series Masters of Sex, playing Bernadette.
In 2015, she had an appearance on The Rock-a-Bye-Baby, an episode of the TV series NCIS: New Orleans, as well as on the episode Kali of the Halt and Catch Fire series. That same year, she participated in some short films such as Sleepwalker, written and directed by Clavin Weaber; Conventional, written, directed, and starring Karen Gillan; Woke Up Famous by Giles Clarke and Move Me directed by Gabe Crate.[6]
In 2016, she appeared in two chapters of the TV series Rizzoli & Isles. That same year she was part of the film The Binding directed by Gus Krieger, and the action film The Last Alleycat directed by Greg Runnels and Mark Runnels. She also participated in the short films The Gate directed by Kellie Madison, What's in the box? by Ross Ferguson, and Jon & The Wolf by Ryan Maples.
In 2017 she starred in the short films Night of Natalie, written and directed by Tori Pope; and The So Long Song, written and directed by Maria Emiko Macuaga.
In 2018, she participated in the film All The Creatures Were Stirring directed by David Ian McKendry and his wife Rebekah McKendry. That same year, she was part of the web series The Haunting of Hill House, in which she played Poppy Hill. This was produced by Netflix and directed by Mike Flanagan and was based on the novel of the same name by Shirley Jackson. Also, she participated in the short TV series Ride Sech created by Kim Noonan and John Salcido.[7]
In 2019, she was chosen to play Silent Sarey in the film Doctor Sleep, an adaptation of the novel of the same name by American writer Stephen King, directed by Mike Flanagan. And she starred in the short film The Re-Education of Jane Brown, directed by M.K. McGehee.[8]
In 2020, she had an appearance in the film Like a Boss directed by Miguel Arteta. And that same year, she played Perdita Willoughby on the Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor directed by Mike Flanagan.
