Katrina Copino Velarde known as Katrina Velarde (born December 5, 1994) is a Filipina singer and a former vocalist of girl group A.K.A. Jam formed by the judges after her audition on The X Factor Philippines (season 1)..[3]
Early Life[edit]
At the age of 5, she started to join singing contest after contest to help her family on their financial difficulties. Also, she used to sell Sampaguita leis for P2.00 per piece that made by her mother.[4] She later joined The X Factor Philippines (season 1) in 2012 where she became a part of girl group named A.K.A. Jam that is mentored by Gary Valenciano[5]. In 2013, she uploaded a video of herself singing Dangerously in Love 2 by Beyoncé while using her Comb as a microphone that resulting of netizens to start call her Suklay Diva (Comb Diva), it went viral after the netizens were amaze of her talent and she started to gained her international fame through social media.[6][7][8][9][10]. Her video became a hit when Chris Brown and Beyonce's guitarist Bibi McGill shared it on social media from worldstarhiphop.com, which selected her as a female talent of the week in October 2013.[11] She also has the ability to imitates other singers voice. In 2018, she uploaded again a video of herself but this time, she's doing an impersonation of International Divas such as Mariah Carey and Celine Dion by singing Hello (Adele song). It went viral in various social media platforms and it have gotten the attention foreign YouTube reactors.[12][13]
