Alexandre Courant, also known as Kaydop, is a French professional Rocket League player, currently representing Solary.
Considered one of the greatest Rocket League player of all time[1], he has won three Rocket League Championship Series out of 6 Grand Finals. He is the second player who received the title of RLCS world champion the most behind Turbopolsa. And he has won 6 European Championship titles.
His first RLCS world champion title came in season 4 with Gale Force alongside Pierre “Turbopolsa” Silfver and Jos “ViolentPanda” van Meurs. The next season Gale Force became Dignitas and the players won a second consecutive title. Season 6, he lost the title in the final with Dignitas and decided at the end of the season to move and to join Team Vitality. As a Vitality player, he managed to win his 3rd RLCS world champion title and 3 European champion titles.
He transferred to Solary for the most recent season, RLCS 22-23.
Career[edit]
Early Career[edit]
Kaydop started to play Rocket League in 2015 less than a week after the game was released.[2] At the beginning of his career, Kaydop played a lot of weekly tournaments like the Gfinity Weekly Cup - Europe 3v3 Secondary: Cup 5 which he won.[3]
In the first season of the RLCS, Kaydop was 18 years old and played in the aeriality team, but only managed to finish 6th in the European Championship, which meant he did not qualify for the Worlds.[4]
For the 2nd season of the RLCS, he joined Precision Z. They went to the Worlds by finishing 4th in the European Championship, but his adventure ended at the 5th-6th place.[5]
Mock-it esport[edit]
In season 3, he joined Mock-it esport, alongside Victor "Fairy Peak!" Locquet and David "miztik" Lawrie. He won the European Championship and made it to the Worlds where he performed well to reach the RLCS Grand Final for the first time in his career. But Mock-it esport lost the final against Nothern Gaming.[6]
At the end of the season, Kaydop changed teams despite his great RLCS Grand Final and joined Gale Force for S4.[7]
Gale Force and Dignitas[edit]
For season 4 of the RLCS, Kaydop joined the brand new Gale Force team alongside Pierre "Turbopolsa" Silfver, recent RLCS world champion at Nothern Gaming, and Jos "ViolentPanda" van Meurs. With his new team, Kaydop won the European Championship, and managed to get back to the RLCS Grand Final where he won his first RLCS world champion title against Method.[8]
For season 5 of the RLCS, the esport structure Dignitas bought the Rocket League team Gale Force. The 3 players started again under new colours for this new season.[9] They won again the European Championship and won the RLCS for the second time in a row, this time against NRG, allowing Kaydop to have a second RLCS world champion title.[10]
For season 6, the team remained the same and once again the players went to the RLCS Grand Final, this time by winning the European Championship while having lost zero game during the all season. But despite their dominance and ultra-favourite status, they lost the Grand Final against the American team Cloud9.[11]
At the end of the season Kaydop surprisingly changed teams despite their unparalleled dominance and joined Renault Vitality for season 7.[12]
The roster Kaydop, Turbopolsa, ViolentPanda remains to this day one the greatest roster in Rocket League history.
Renault Vitality[edit]
For season 7 of the RLCS, Kaydop joined the French structure Vitality, renamed Renault Vitality for the next 3 seasons.[13]
He joined Fairy Peak! with whom he had teamed up at Mock-it esport in season 3 and Kyle "Scrub Killa" Robertson who was doing his first season in pro.
With his new team, Kaydop won the European Championship, and they won the RLCS season 7. Kaydop took his revenge against Cloud9 in the semi-finals, beat G2 esport in the Grand Final and won its 3rd RLCS world champion title.[14] [15]
For season 8 of the RLCS, the team remained unchanged. They finished 2nd in the European Championship and once again managed to reach the RLCS Grand Final. This makes Kaydop the only player to have participated in 7 consecutive Grand Finals. But they lost the final against NRG.[16]
For season 9 of the RLCS, Renault Vitality decided to replace Scrub Killa with Yanis "Alpha54" Champenois.[17] But this season was marked by the covid-19 which cancelled competitions.[18]
For season 10, called RLCS X, the Worlds could not be held in physical form due to COVID-19, resulting in online competitions between teams of each continent.[19] The winner of the European RLCS X Championship was Team Vitality against Team BDS.[20]
For the new 2021-22 season, the team did not change players, but after the 2 bad results in the 2 first's splits, Team Vitality decided to bench Fairy Peak! and replaced him with Andrea "Radosin" Radovanović.[21] But this was not enough to make up for the bad performances of the beginning of the season. Team Vitality failed to qualify for the Worlds with their 8th place in the European Championship and Kaydop did not make it to the Grand Final for the 8th time in a row.[22]
At the end of the season Team Vitality decided to replace Kaydop with Thiméo "Saizen" Corcuff.[23] And Kaydop joined Solary.
Solary[edit]
For the 2022-23 season, Kaydop joined Solary alongside Fairy Peak! and Thibault "Chausette45" Grzesiak.[24]
