Kaylie Smith is an American author and graphic designer from Louisiana, USA. In August 2021, it was announced that her debut YA fantasy novel, Witch's Dice, was acquired by Cassidy Leyendecker at Disney Hyperion. Witch's Dice has an anticipated release date of Early 2023, and an untitled book 2 of the same series is slated for released in Early 2024...[1]

Kaylie identifies as bisexual and genderqueer, and uses she/they pronouns.[2]

Early Life and Education[edit]

Kaylie is a life long reader, noting her love of books stemming from her grandparents.[3] She received her Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design from University of Louisiana [3][4]

Career[edit]

Kaylie began writing Witch's Dice at the age of sixteen[5]. In October 2020, they began the querying process for Witch's Dice, and by December 2020, was agented under Bookends Literary agent Emily Forney[6]. In August 2021, it was announced that their debut YA fantasy novel, Witch's Dice, was acquired by Cassidy Leyendecker at Disney Hyperion. Witch's Dice has an anticipated release date of Early 2023, and an untitled book 2 of the same series is slated for released in Early 2024.[1]

Kaylie has stated that Witch's Dice was written exclusively to Taylor Swift songs.[5]
