Kazakh profanity
Kazakh profanity is the profane, indecent, or impolite vocabulary of Kazakh language, and its uses. Words deemed profane were described as balaghat sozder (Kazakh: балағат сөздер) or boghauyz sozder (Kazakh: боғауыз сөздер — dirty words).
Using of Kazakh profanity in modern days
According to Kazakh translator and writer Herold Belger, modern Kazakhs mainly swear in Russian. According to him, «Kazakhs will speak their native language when they swear in Kazakh. Kazakh «mat» (obscene language) is much richer and figurative».[1]
According to the deputy director of the Institute of Linguistics Anar Fazylzhanova, the use of the «mat» is due to the inability to accurately express their thoughts on the emotional level. «The Kazakhs directly talk about something not accepted. Centuries hone skills allegory. Therefore, we have the usual words, you can say that would be a shame to hear, but not everyone can understand it. For this we need to own a word in the highest degree».[1]
Kazakh mat is almost never used in the literature and official media, but is widespread in everyday life and is used in some Kazakh rap songs by artists and bands: ДМХ, Smerch, WestArs and others. In the rock group «Adaptation» from Aktobe there is a song «Қотақты жеме».
