Her mother remarried and she lived in Havre, Montana.[1] She graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology and criminal justice in 1986 and moved to Denver with her husband.[2] She earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado Denver in 1989.[3]
