Life and career[edit]
Momo was born in the Diepkloof section of Soweto, near Johannesburg. He took an interest in music at an early age and began performing with musical instruments by the age of 7, influenced by his father’s fondness for jazz.[1]
On 31 July 2020, he released the debut studio album, Momo’s Private School. The album title was inspired by his signature sound.
On 15 August 2020, he released a joint EP with his girlfriend, amapiano vocalist Babalwa M, titled Bayeke.
Momo entirely produced Babalwa M’s debut studio album, Aluta Continua, which was released on 15 August 2020.[2]
On 17 December 2021, he released his sophomore studio album, titled Ivy League. Self-released, the album is noteworthy for its experimentation, placing greater emphasis on deep house, jazz, and lounge music than his previous album.[3]
