Kenneth L. Hurley is an American entrepreneur and software engineer. He is recognized for co-founding GNUS AI, a technology company that specializes in artificial intelligence. As the CEO, Kenneth leads the company's strategy and oversees its operations, which include the development of products and services that utilize AI technology.[1]

Early life and education

Kenneth has a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business Administration and Management from East Texas A&M University, which he completed between 2013 and 2015. He also holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland Global Campus. His education has provided him with skills in business strategy and software development, which are important for his work in technology and entrepreneurship.[citation needed]

Career

Kenneth began his professional career in 1982 as a freelance programmer, developing software for Apple II computers. He also created the official waste management system software for the city of Medford, Oregon. In 1990, he joined Electronic Arts as a programmer, contributing to games such as The Immortal (1990) and Chuck Yeager's Air Combat (1991). In 1992, Kenneth co-founded Futurescape Productions, a development studio based in San Mateo.[2][3][4] This studio collaborated with Sega on various projects, including Nuclear Rush, one of the four original games intended for the Sega VR headset. Futurescape Productions ceased operations in 1994.[5][6][7][8][9]

After Futurescape Productions closed, Kenneth returned to Electronic Arts, where he served as the lead programmer for PGA Tour Golf 486 and the PlayStation version of Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger.[10][11][12] In 1997, he left Electronic Arts to become a technical marketing engineer at Intel. In 1999, he joined NVIDIA as a senior software engineer.[13] At NVIDIA, Kenneth contributed to the development of the original Xbox console and worked on several games, including Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2002. In 2005, a magazine highlighted Kenneth's work at NVIDIA in an article about Jensen Huang, who reportedly learned about Kenneth's projects during an unexpected meeting in a company restroom.[14][15][16][17]

Kenneth left NVIDIA in 2003 to become the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer of Signature Devices, a position he held until 2010.[18][19] During his tenure, Signature Devices and its subsidiary, Graffiti Entertainment, collaborated on several projects, including the original Far Cry (2004) in partnership with Crytek for Ubisoft.[20][21][22][23][24] After finishing his role as chair of Graffiti's board, Kenneth worked for one year at Mahatat, formerly known as Telly, as a video engineer. In 2013, he joined Amazon as a senior software development manager.[25]

In 2016, Kenneth co-founded Genius Ventures, a company focused on software development, artificial intelligence, and decentralized computing.[26][27] Its main subsidiary, GNUS.ai, was established in 2021 and is developing a global artificial intelligence computing network that utilizes idle graphics processing units from devices operating on Android, Microsoft Windows, iOS, macOS, and Linux. The GNUS.ai token, which functions as the network's cryptocurrency, is traded on the Ethereum and Polygon blockchains under the symbol $GNUS.[28]
