Michael Chimeruche Alozie, better known by his stage name Snazzy the Optimist is a Nigerian born, South African raised singer, songwriter, rapper and performer based in Canada.[1][2]
Career
In the year 2010, he caught the attention of Jacob Zuma, former president of South Africa after wining a rap battle for Hoërskool Jan van Riebeeck in Cape Town, South Africa.[3] He was chosen to appear on "Amazing Kids" most anticipated and most hyped show (2010) in Cape Town to showcase his talents in music.[4]
In October 2021 he released his single “Seluna”[5][6][7] which is charted on the Nigerian iTunes music Chart, making him Top 40 iTunes Nigerian music charting artist.[8]
Artistry
Snazzy the Optimist's music has been described as incorporating elements of Rapping, afro pop, Rhythm and blues, Pop music, soul music and Afrobeat. Snazzy the Optimist has listed Drake, Wizkid, Wande Coal, the lyricism of Bryson Tiller, J Cole, Frank Ocean, Bow Wow, Nasty C, Kendrick Lamar and the hustle-nomics and genius of Kanye West as some of his influences.
