Kevin Herewini MBE served with the 1st Detachment of 4 Troop, New Zealand Special Air Service (NZSAS) during the Vietnam War. In July 1968, he was a member of a patrol commanded by Sgt W.A. (Windy) McGee which contacted and killed two Vietcong.[2] Herewini served as Regimental Sergeant Major of the NZSAS in 1985.[3] In the 1984 New Year Honours, he was appointed as a Member of the Military Division of the Order of the British Empire.[1]
