Kickstart Fund, also known as the Kickstart Seed Fund, is a Utah-based[1] venture capital firm that works primarily with early-stage startups and growth-stage companies within the Mountain West region.[2][3] [4][5]
The firm has backed technology companies including Podium[6], Sondermind[7], Grain[8] and Lucid[9]
Founding and partnering
Kickstart Fund was founded in September 2008 by Gavin Christensen with partner Dalton Wright. In the same year, the company closed its first fund of $8 million.[10]
On April 29th, 2020, Kickstart Fund announced the oversubscribed close of Fund V at $110 million, raising its total assets under management to over $250 million.[11][12]
The firm is headquartered in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
Investments
Kickstart Fund works with seed, early-stage and growth-stage investments. Its seed and early stage investments include Pura[13][14], Alumni[15], Spiff[16][17] and Sondermind[18][19]. The firm’s growth capital investments focus on more developed companies that require a larger amount of capital to expand their business such as Lucid[20][21], Chatbooks[22], Nav, Havenly[23], TaskEasy and Self.
Campus Founders Fund
Campus Founders Fund (CFF) is a venture fund that invests in student-run Utah-based startups. It was founded by Kickstart Fund in October 2014.
