KidSuper Samba AC is an American amateur football club based in Harlem, New York. Established in 2017, the club currently operates in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League.

KidSuper Samba AC won the league's Division 2 title in 2018–19 in its second year of existence, winning both the North group and playoff final, and promotion to Division 1.

In its history, Samba has been represented by three professional players (Karamba Janneh, Arsène Oka, and Abdoulaye Diallo), and players who have represented the following countries at youth international level: United States (Juan David Dominguez and Anthony Flores[1]), Haiti (Mark Luxama[2] and Jhonny Theze), Trinidad & Tobago (Isaiah Melville-Fergusson[3]), Jamaica (Tajae Dennis), and Dominica (Kenann Maronie).

Since 2019, the club plays the vast majority of its home games at Baker Athletics Complex in Manhattan, and holds training sessions just across the Spuyten Duyvil Creek at Coach Horowitz Football Field in the Bronx.

The club operates in conjunction with Harlem-based non-profit organization Soccer Shepherds New York and maintains a relationship with local youth club FC Harlem. As of June 12, 2019 the club has an affiliation with Serekunda based Gambian club Latma Athletic FC.

History[edit]

KidSuper Samba AC was founded in 2017 as a combination of KidSuper, an art and clothing collective from Brooklyn, and Samba Athletic Club, a local youth club founded in 2016.

Division 2 (2017–2019)[edit]

The Samba Boys finished their inaugural season in 2nd place in the North group of Division 2 of the Cosmopolitan Soccer League, but their season ultimately ended in a loss in the division's playoff semifinal round.[4]

On January 16 2019, Abdoulaye Diallo joined Greek club Apollon Paralimniou FC after spending one season with Samba.[5]

In its second season the club was crowned champion of the Cosmopolitan Soccer League Division 2 North group after finishing the regular season in 1st place. The club was promoted to Division 1 after a 5-4 victory over Polonia Gwardia NY in the Division 2 playoff final.[6] Karamba Janneh assisted Abdoulaye Diallo's goal in the 90th minute to win the league title.[7][8]

Division 1 (2019–)[edit]

Samba began play in Division 1 of the CSL in September 2019. The club's first game in Division 1 was a 1-1 draw with Werner Fricker Cup national champions Lansdowne Yonkers FC.[9][10]

On September 21 2019, Ousman Sillah joined Greek club Pangytheiatikos in the Gamma Ethniki league after two seasons with KidSuper Samba.[11] The same week, former Samba player Abdoulaye Diallo returned for his second season in Greece with Panserraikos FC.
