Kids' Pages Cares
Kids' Pages Cares is a 501(c) nonprofit organization located in Arvada, Colorado. It publishes an online magazine at KidsPages.org.
History[edit]
Founded in 2002 by Ellen Blair, in an attempt to match resources from advertisers with families in need. The result was Kids' Pages Cares. It leverages resources from businesses and local companies, trading advertising from Kids Pages Family Magazine, and using grant money to supplement the resources obtained from businesses and the community. They are Colorado's premier family-targeted website with the aim of addressing the needs of families with children aged newborn through high school. The website offers a well-informed, local and relevant perspective on issues affecting families.
Kids' Pages Cares Mission[edit]
Kids' Pages Cares serves families who are facing immediate health crises, unemployment, or living on a fixed retirement income.[1] These families have a common desire to provide their children and grandchildren with basic needs, such as food, clothing and healthcare. They want their kids and grandkids to have the opportunity to enjoy their childhood and succeed in school. They need a "hand-up, not a hand-out." Most families would never ask for help so Kids' Pages Cares finds out about these families through school principles, teachers and social workers who identify children in need.
Kids' Pages Cares has helped more than 12,000 families since its inception in 1992 and provided more than $1,250,000 worth of assistance to deserving local families.[2]
Kid's Pages Cares is a non-partisan, non-political, and non-religious, nonprofit organization. They do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religious beliefs, national origin, ancestry, gender, age, physical or mental disability, marital status or any other characteristic protected by state or federal law or local ordinance. Their administrative costs are less than two percent. 98 percent of all donations go directly to assist local children in need.
Services provided[edit]
They provide new clothing, school supplies, eye exams and glasses, dental care and orthodontics, medical care, household items and personal items, housing assistance, sports and arts scholarships and groceries. They have helped numerous families by supplying them with the tools needed to get back on their feet. As an example, one family lost their apartment to a fire and did not have insurance and Kids' Pages Cares provided them with towels, bedding, toiletries, kitchen items, and clothing for all of the family members.[citation needed]
