Early life[edit]

Kim was born in Seoul to historian Kim Sung-chil and scholar of Korean literature Lee Nam-deok[1], and was educated at Kyunggi High School and Seoul National University, where he studied physics and Asian history. He received his master's degree in ancient Chinese calendar from Kyungpook National University[2] and his doctorate in Matteo Ricci from Yonsei University.[3] He taught history at Keimyung University.[4]

Career[edit]

After resigning from Keimyung University, he has worked for JoongAng Ilbo, Encyclopedia of Korean Culture, The Korean History of Science Society.[5] His research examines the relationship between the history of civilization, history of China and history of Korea.
