Kim Ji-woo, professionally known as Chuu (Korean: 츄; born 20 October 1999), is a South Korean singer and a member of the South Korean girl group Loona.

Early life
Childhood
Chuu was born on 20 October 1999 in Cheongju, in the North Chungcheong Province of Korea.[1] As a child, she attended and graduated from Saet-byul Elementary school (샛별초등학교) and San-nam Middle school (산남중학교).
Trainee years
In 2015, she auditioned and was accepted into the Hanlim Multi Arts High School in Seoul as an Applied Music major. While a student at Hanlim HS, she auditioned for FNC, becoming a trainee around 2016 (exact date unknown), but left in order to join Music Works in preparation for a debut alongside the likes of Kim Sohee and other MW trainees. But again, in July of 2017, she left Music Works and went on the hunt for a new agency. During her time as a trainee, Chuu gained slight notoriety, gaining upwards of ~14,000 followers on Instagram (the exact number is unknown due to Chuu deactivating her Instagram before debuting as a member of Loona) and being dubbed the "agency-less trainee" by fans. While talking with her fans, she revealed she had auditioned for at least 6 agencies (JYP and YG being among the more notable ones) but hadn't been accepted into a single one. Finally, on 11 of November 2017, she uploaded one last post, a cover of Paper Hearts by Tori Kelly, before deactivating her Instagram on 14th of November 2017.[2]
Career
2017–present: Debut with Loona and solo activities
On the 14th of December 2017, Chuu was revealed as the 10th member of Loona, and on the 28th of that year, she released her first album titled "Chuu". The album contains two tracks, "Heart Attack" and "Girls Talk", featuring Loona's ninth member Yves. Then, on the 30th of May 2018, Chuu debuted alongside members Yves, GoWon, and Olivia Hye in Loona's third subunit 'yyxy'. As a subunit, the four released their first and only EP titled "Beauty and The Beat" (stylized as beauty&thebeat). [3]
