Kinya Claiborne is the Founder & Editor-in-Chief of Style & Society magazine, an online American women's magazine, whose headquarters are in Los Angeles. The magazine is an online platform that shares fashion, entertainment, travel and lifestyle. Claiborne is also the host and co-executive producer of The StyleList.

Education[edit]

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from California State University, Sacramento in 2002.[1][2]

Career[edit]

For the first twenty years of her career, Claiborne worked in public affairs, media relations, event marketing and community relations.[3]

In 2013, Claiborne founded the lifestyle web magazine Style & Society.[4][5][1] She is Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, and the host and co-executive producer of The StyleList. The StyleList television series is an extension of the online publication, airing weekly, which premiered in June 2016 on ONX, an online video platform.[4]

She is a StyleCon Influencer for the annual StyleCon convention in California. The convention celebrates women's empowerment and covers current beauty and fashion trends.[6]

In September 2017, it was announced that Claiborne's magazine Style & Society would partner with Vogue International and Destination Luxury for the 2018 Spring/Summer Los Angeles Fashion Week. Claiborne co-hosted the Los Angeles Fashion Week red carpet influencer launch event and the Los Angeles Fashion Week Opening Night Gala.[7]

In November 2017, Claiborne was nominated for the Los Angeles Business Journal Fashion Award in the Influencer / Trendsetter category for her work with Style & Society. The awards acknowledge the top apparel companies that drive economic growth in the Southern Californian region and make it a major force in the business of fashion.[8][9] In 2018, she was nominated for the Los Angeles Business Journal Fashion & Beauty Award in the Influencer category.[10]

In 2018, Claiborne appeared on the Passion to Paycheck series for Focus TV Network,[11] the Miss Now! The It Girl Edition series for Instinct Culture,[12] and Style Code Live for Amazon.[13] She was also nominated for the Los Angeles Business Journal Women’s Council Award in the Founder/Owner/Entrepreneur of the Year category.[2][14]

Personal life[edit]

Claiborne was at the Route 91 Harvest festival during the 2017 Las Vegas shooting, but was able to escape unharmed. The shooting happened while Claiborne was celebrating her 37th birthday at the festival which occurred on the same date as the shooting.[15][16]
