Kiran Morjaria is a British general practitioner, stand-up comedian, and media personality. He is known for his appearances as a medical expert on the BBC One programme Morning Live and for his comedy routines that draw on his experiences in medicine.
Early life and education
Morjaria attended Shrewsbury School in Shrewsbury, England. He subsequently studied medicine at the University of Leeds, where he was editor of The Tab Leeds, a student news outlet.[1] During his time at Leeds, he wrote an article documenting spending 24 hours in the library and sleeping in a tent.[2] He later qualified as a general practitioner.
Career
Morjaria appears regularly as a medical expert on BBC One's Morning Live, where he provides medical advice and discusses health-related topics.[3][4][5][6][7]
Morjaria has performed at major UK comedy venues including The Comedy Store and the Glee Club, and toured with Desi Central, the South Asian comedy collective.[8][9] In 2017 he was a finalist in the Beat the Frog World Series Main Prize.[10]
In 2025, Morjaria delivered a TEDxManchester talk titled "Laughter is Medicine: How Comedy Can Save Your Life", exploring the role of humour in healthcare and communication.[11]
