Alice Janette Hergett, best known by her stage name Kitty Foxx (February 26, 1942 – September 21, 2006),[1] was an American pornographic film actress and magazine publisher.

Foxx was born Alice Janette Seals and raised in Mount Carmel, Illinois, where she graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1960.[2] She had three older sisters (Brenda, Charlotte and Linda) and a younger brother (Thomas).[3]
Foxx studied cosmetology to become a beautician before marrying Arthur Alan Hergett (who went by his middle name Alan) on December 30, 1964.[4] They met at a bar and married 18 days later.[5] Hergett had worked as a sub-contractor for NASA.[5] The couple had one daughter, Michelle Hergett, and two granddaughters. Foxx was also stepmother to her husband's son from a previous marriage, Mark Hergett. In 1978 the family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. She would go on to work as a beautician at the Las Vegas Hilton for five years.[4]
In 1983 Foxx shifted career paths to become a topless showgirl on the Las Vegas Strip. She had previously filled in for a friend who was going on vacation, and the couple bought The Look Inn, a topless bar, and she began appearing there.[6][5][4] The plywood sign for the bar sported O’s that looked like eyeballs, and was later renamed to the Centerfold as it "didn't have a great reputation."[7][8][9] The couple had been swingers since 1967, and her husband supported and encouraged her change of career.[5]

In 1989 she was noticed by an adult industry talent scout who convinced her to appear in a nude photo layout for a men's magazine. Afterwards,she was asked if she would be interested in being in an adult film, and in 1990 she made her debut in Nympho Heaven.[10] Foxx would later say that she loved having sex in front of a camera so much that she quickly decided to be an adult film actress for as long as men would desire to have her. She made approximately 20 movies a year throughout the 1990s and starred in more than 400 adult films during her career. Her films frequently featured gang bangs and creampies. She was also well known for appearing in lesbian scenes.
Foxx and her husband, who attended her video and magazine shoots and eventually ended up working as a camera man, went on to work as content providers for Totally Tasteless Video and Heatwave.[11] Through the '90s, she most notably set up and starred in the "Aged to Perfection" and "Kitty's Kinky Caper" film series for the Totally Tasteless Video Company[12][13] and the Older Women's Sperm Bank series.[14] Actors in these movies were mostly amateurs, and a few are seen on several films within the series.
Foxx was also the publisher of Over 50 magazine, in which she appeared in every issue.[15] In 2000 she launched her own official website kittyfoxx.com, where it was possible to purchase videos and contact her via e-mail.
Death[edit]
Foxx suffered an aneurysm after collapsing on December 27, 2003, when returning home from a grocery store. She suffered a stroke in January 2004 which left her "virtually unconscious." Friend and fellow adult star Ami Charms stated that on January 19, that doctors "ended up doing an EEG and there wasn't any more brain activity" after Foxx's feeding tubing was moved to a side insertion. She was returned home to be cared for by her family with assistance from Nathan Adelson Home Hospice.[15] Whilst looking after his wife at home, Arthur Alan Hergett died in 2005 (November 28, 1938 - May 1, 2005)[16] and her website ceased operating that same year. The couple were reportedly in the process of setting up their own distribution and production company at the time of Foxx's fall.[17]
Foxx died on September 21, 2006 at a care home.[1][18] Her stepson, Mark Alan Hergett, also died on the same day. She was buried at the Palm Valley View Memorial Park in Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada, interred alongside her husband and stepson.[19] What became of her daughter, Michelle Hergett, did not become widely known by early October 2017.
