Klairmont Kollections is a museum of over 300 of classic automobiles on the northwest side of Chicago. Under one roof and encompassing 100,000 square feet on two floors, the collection ranges from a 1906 American Motors Tourist and rare 1924 Pierce-Arrow Series 33 to a 1958 BMW Isetta and 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS. It is a not-for-profit organization.

Open since 2011, the museum includes re-creations of a Packard dealership, the iconic Route 66 Cucamonga Gas Station and a classic drive-in theater featuring an array of coupes from the '50s and '60s. The structure also houses a scaled-down version of Hot Doug's, complete with memorabilia from the legendary erstwhile hot dog eatery. Neon and vintage posters and signage abound throughout the collection.[1]

Larry Klairmont was a World War II hero who signed up at age 16. Serving in two major battles at Saipan and Iwo Jima, he who twice wounded and awarded two Silver Stars, a Bronze Star, and two Purple Hearts. In 1952 he began one of the nation's largest dry cleaner chains. Selling off that business in 1962, he founded what turned into a successful real estate company.

He founded the car museum in 2011 with his fiancée, Joyce Oberlander, who runs the museum.

Larry died on July 18, 2021 at the age of 94.[2]
