KnownHost, LLC is a privately owned and operated managed web hosting provider founded in 2006, with customers from over 150 countries around the world. Services provided using technologies including KVM, OpenVZ, Openstack, and Ceph allowing services such as shared, reseller, vps, and dedicated web hosting powered by cPanel[3] and DirectAdmin.

History[edit]

KnownHost was founded in 2006 by Justin Sauers and Pavel Malyavko who met while working at Parallels in Virginia.

November 2006, KnownHost partnered with Hyperspin[4] to monitor and publish network and server uptime values.

December 2011, Services are expanded to include an East Coast[5] facility.

February 2012, KnownHost launches an unmanaged value hosting brand, RocketVPS[6]

February 2016, RocketVPS line is closed and clients merged with the main brand[7].

October 2016, added a facility in Amsterdam, NL[8]

January 2018, Support for KVM Cloud[9] servers launched built on Openstack and Ceph

Acquisitions[edit]

October 2012, KnownHost acquires shared hosting provider Uberhost[10]

Datacenters[edit]

KnownHost partners with TierPoint[11] facilities providing services in the following locations:

  • Baltimore, MD
  • Seattle, WA
  • Dallas, TX

In 2016 a fourth facility opened in Amsterdam, NL in a partnership with Interxion[12].
