Kolbey Gardner "Kolbey" Gardner (/ˈsjuːəl/; born April 17, 1991)[1] is an American Political Strategist and politician. He is a member of the Democratic Party. He is the cousin of Terri Sewell who has served as the U.S. Representative since 2011 for Alabama's 7th congressional district, which includes most of the Black Belt, as well as most of the predominantly black portions of Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Montgomery.
He is a candidate for the 2022 Georgia lieutenant gubernatorial election.
Gardner is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University. Before entering politics, he had been in Corporate Operations for Apple and Verizon Wireless. Along with Mathew Wilson if elected in 2022 he will be the first openly-gay elected official in Georgia[2]
Early life and education
Kolbey Gardner was born in Euclid, Ohio, to loving grandparents that were originally from Lowndes County, Alabama. His Aunt was the first black woman elected to the Selma City Council.[3]
As a child, Gardner wanted to be an astronaut. After graduating from high school at the age of 16, Gardner went to Clark Atlanta University.
