On the afternoon of 4 January 2019, five 15-year-old girls were killed in a fire at an escape room in Koszalin, Poland. Escape rooms are popular in Poland, and according to the fire brigade that responded, there was no readily available secure proper exit.[1][2] United International Pictures announced that the film Escape Room release in the country would be delayed, out of respect for the five teenagers who had recently died in this fire.[3]
