Kouji Murata (村田 晃嗣, Murata Kouji) is a Japanese video game music composer, known for previous work at companies such as Konami and Capcom, with his most well known songs written for the Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy.

Career[edit]

Murata's first known musical contributions were while working part-time jobs at several comapanies, including Jaleco, Bandai, and Namco, no earlier than 1986. He then moved to Konami in 1987, where he also began programming sound drivers. In 1989, he became freelance once again for a short period before being employed at Minakuchi Engineering, a video game development studio known for frequent collaborations with Capcom. In 1993, he permanently shifted to freelance work. From 1995 onwards, he worked with many different companies, most of his involvements remaining private.[1]
