History
Kruzee was founded in 2021 by Mikael Castaldo and Osama Siddique.[1] The company was launched to modernize traditional in-car lessons with online courses, supported by advanced technology and streamlined processes.
In 2022, Kruzee raised CAD $500,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by N49P, with participation from investors including Ivan Yuen, co-founder of Wattpad, and Heather Payne, founder of Juno College of Technology.[2][1][3]
The company launched in the Greater Toronto Area in June 2022 and later expanded to British Columbia, Alberta and New York.[4][5][6][7][8][9]
In 2023, MoneySense described Kruzee as a digital-first driving school that simplifies the driver education process through technology. By 2024, Kruzee had delivered more than 50,000 in-car lessons. That year, instructor Cory Froklage, affiliated with Kruzee, appeared in a CBC News segment discussing increasing driver aggression in Toronto amid worsening traffic congestion.[13]
Services
In Ontario, Kruzee offers a Ministry of Transportation–approved Beginner Driver Education (BDE) program.[14][15][16] The program includes a self-paced online theory course and in-car training with certified instructors. Lessons can be scheduled through the company’s online platform. Graduates may qualify for accelerated G2 road test eligibility and insurance discounts.[1]
In New York, Kruzee offers DMV-certified driving lessons. Students can schedule in-car lessons online and arrange flexible pickup locations in Brooklyn, Long Island, Queens and Manhattan.[2][17]
In Alberta, Kruzee offers hourly driving lessons, road test preparation and the full Class 5 beginner program, which includes online theory. Lessons are personalized to the student’s experience level and focus on defensive and safe driving practices.
In British Columbia, Kruzee provides hourly driving lessons and road test preparation with Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC)-licensed instructors. Lessons are tailored to each student’s skill level and can be scheduled through the company’s digital platform.[18]
Kruzee’s curriculum combines interactive learning tools with traditional instruction methods.[1][19]
Recognition
In 2024, the company was named the official driving school partner of the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) and partnered with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).[20][21]
