Krystyna Schreiber

(photo in German Wikipedia) Krystyna Schreiber (born September 21, 1976) is a German journalist who was appointed delegate of the Government of Catalonia in Vienna in 2019.

Life[edit]

Born in Hoyerswerda (Saxony). Krystyna Schreiber grew up in Dresden. Her father is a dentist; first he was a military doctor of the Air Forces of the National People's Army in the GDR. After the Peaceful Revolution in autumn of 1989 he founded a medical center. Her mother was a teacher of German. As a teenager Schreiber spent a year in Oregon, USA. After graduation she studied economics at the University of Cologne. She went on to study at the Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, where she obtained a diploma in translation in German, Catalan and Spanish. In 1998 and 1999 she did an internship in New York City and worked there as a model. In 2002 she moved to Barcelona.

Since 2012 she has participated in social organisations in Catalonia. She published interviews and essays by German and Catalan politicians and political scientists on the prospects of the Catalan independence movement.[1] Until 2019 she worked in Barcelona in her company for audiovisual productions and as a journalist for German and international media reporting on Spain with special attention to Catalonia, among others fort he magazine Junge Welt, Die Welt and n-tv.

In 2019 the Government of Catalonia appointed her delegate for Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia based in Vienna.[2]
