Kuppiya (kuppiya.lk), registered on 1 January 2014,[citation needed] is a Sri Lankan web forum that provides a virtual environment for general knowledge sharing.
The name Kuppiya (කුප්පිය) which literally means 'small bottle' or 'small lamp',[citation needed] and is used to refer to an informal tuition class conducted by a student who better knows the subject area for a small study group free of charge.[citation needed]
Kuppiya’s membership base is largely Sri Lankan users, including a large number of Sri Lankans living abroad. The site allows any internet user to open an account upon presenting a valid email address. Users are allowed to use Sinhala or English languages to post in threads.
Kuppiya is one of the largest Sri Lankan online communities originating in Sri Lanka.[citation needed]
