Introduction

Kusare Miyabi/腐れ雅 (a.k.a Masatsugu Kawaguchi/川口雅嗣; born July 13, 1984)[1] is a Japanese Flash animator who made animations on 2003 - 2005 in his website "KILLERKILLER光る", he is best known for his works "idiot" (a.k.a you are an idiot), "idiot2" (a.k.a you are an idiot! 2) and さいたまエイト (Saitama8) which became well known within the Japanese 2channel Flash community.

Biography

Kusare Miyabi was born on 13th July 1984[1]. His website "KILLERKILLER光る" was released on 22nd February 2003 where he started to make Flash animations with Macromedia Flash MX, many of them with a 2channel theme, usually featuring characters like Hattoushin Mona (8頭身モナー), >>1san (>>1さん), Saitama (さいたま) and other ASCII Art figures popular at the time.

During 2003 and 2005, he released various numerous original and parody Flash animations, several of which became well known among the Japanese Flash community.[2]

During the mid-2000s, Kusare Miyabi collaborated with Flash animator ZaFackShow on several projects. Production notes published on KILLERKILLER光る describe ZaFackShow as one of the creators Kusare Miyabi admired, and their works contain numerous stylistic references to one another. The Flash animation samXXX (Xmas) is a collaboration between them featuring a christmas theme and a animation in the ending.

Between July or August 2018, KILLERKILLER光る went into maintenance until 2026

Style

Kusare Miyabi's animations are characterized by surreal humor, music synchronization, and extensive use of characters, some of them originating from 2channel ASCII art. His works frequently combined comedy, parody, and experimental animation techniques that were common within the early Japanese Flash community.

Kusare Miyabi's new activity

In 2026, Kusare Miyabi resumed publishing new Flash-style animations after many years of inactivity. During the same period, he publicly expressed interest in restoring proper attribution for idiot (a.k.a you are an idiot!) after his work became internationally known but without credit to him. His return renewed interest in his animation catalog and encouraged further archival efforts.[4]

The "you are an idiot!" documentation

On 24th September 2004, Kusare Miyabi released the Flash animation idiot in KILLERKILLER光る, featuring the song "You ARE the IDIOT 2!!" by the Japanese music project Rebirth, which had been released on 1st September 2004. In 2006, the animation was uploaded to YouTube by the user oniku1234, where it later accumulated millions of views. As the video spread internationally, it was widely reuploaded without attribution to its original creators.

In 2026, after 22 years of misattribution, Kusare Miyabi returned to document the history of the animation and restore information about its original creation. His return led to new public information about the work becoming available. During the same year, he uploaded official versions of idiot and idiot2 to YouTube called idiot(official) and idiot2(official), together with the music video Digital Venom. The uploads of idiot(official) and idiot2(official) were later taken down by oniku1234, while Digital Venom remained available because it was a new music video.[5]

Return to Flash

His recent works include references to characters and themes from his earlier animations like さいたまエイト, 追悼ダンス and Pink Killer, reflecting a continuation of his original artistic style.[6]

Legacy

Several of Kusare Miyabi's works became well known among Japanese Flash users during the early 2000s. idiot (a.k.a you are an idiot!) later spread internationally after being redistributed on numerous websites, often without attribution to its original creator. Although Adobe Flash was discontinued in 2020, many of his surviving animations continue to be preserved through archives and recordings.
