Kyle Joseph Datres (born January 5, 1996) is an American college baseball player for the North Carolina Tar Heels.[1] Datres attended Loyalsock Township High School.
Early years
Datres was born on January 5, 1996 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. His mother was the first woman to play three sports at Williamsport Area High School, and his father was a baseball coach and was part of a AAA Pennsylvania State Championship team. Datres attended Loyalsock Township High School, a suburb of Williamsport. In high school, Datres was an all-around athlete, being named All-State in football, Basketball, and Baseball. He was a runner-up in the Mr. Pennsylvania Football award. He was a three-time All-State shortstop in baseball, ranked 57th nationally among shortstops and 3rd in Pennsylvania. He was the 12th overall prospect in the state.[2]
College career
Datres accepted an offer and committed to play college baseball at University of North Carolina.[3] He started 41 games and appeared in 53 as a true freshman.[4] He hit .250 with 6 doubles, 3 home runs, and 23 RBIs. In total, he scored 39 runs and drew 27 walks, and was 6-for-6 on stolen base attempts.[5][6]
