Kyle Schempp

Kyle Schempp (born January 13, 1994 in Saginaw, Michigan) is an American professional ice hockey forward. He is currently playing for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.

He was selected by the New York Islanders in the 2014 NHL Draft (6th round, 155th overall).

Career[edit]

A native of Saginaw, Michigan, he played for the Detroit Compuware Ambassadors from 2008 to 2011, followed by a stint in the NAHL with the Traverse City North Stars. In 2012-13, Schempp played for Sioux Fall Stampede of the USHL.[1]

He enrolled at Ferris State University for the 2013–14 campaign. Schempp saw the ice in 121 contests during his three-year tenure with the Bulldogs, tallying 29 goals and 37 assists, while serving as team captain in his junior year.[2]

On March 29, 2016, he put pen to paper on a two-year entry-level contract with NHL's New York Islanders[3] and was sent to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey Leaguef(AHL)or the rest of the 2015–16 campaign. Schempp made his debut with the Sound Tigers on April 9, 2016.[4]
