At this time when India is on the cusp of gaining independence, they hope to achieve their dreams and find success in their love lives.[1][2] Produced by - Shashi Sumeet Mittal

Plot[edit]

Set against the backdrop of the 1947 partitioning of India, the show focuses on the lives of three young and headstrong women, Amrit Sahni(Gracy Goswami) whose views on women rights and independence are considered western and blatant, Vashma Baig(Anchal Sahu), Amrit's childhood friend and neighbor, who wants to be the wings of Uday Sahni's(Shagun Pandey) dream to be a national hockey player and Radha, a nomad who gets married to Amrit's aged uncle and looks forward to a new life and wants to be nothing but a dutiful wife.

The show begins with Amrit narrating how the days were when Lahore was a part of the country before the division. Om Nivas, Lahore. The Sahnis and Baigs, despite religious differences, share a bond of respect and companionship. Amrit is shown to be a shy yet loving girl who writes romance stories for a newspaper that reflect women rights and equality under the pseudonym of 'Ranjhan'. She dreams to come out to the world as Ranjhan and write stories under her own name without being judged. The newspaper's owner, Randheer Raizada(Zaan Khan), a broadminded and cheerful lad, immensely respects 'Ranjhan' and occasionally writes to her without any reciprocation from her. Meanwhile, Vashma is an outgoing and bubbly girl who knows Amrit's every secret and is shown to share a great bond with Amrit's cousin Uday, whose crippled father never displays his affection to him, blaming him for his wife and Uday's mother's death. Vashma is supportive of Uday and their friendship blossoms into love. Uday's father, Brij, marries a young, innocent nomad girl Radha who strives to win Brij's trust and Uday's acceptance as stepmother.

A series of misunderstandings lead Amrit to believe that she received a marriage proposal from Randheer and she falls for him. While the proposal was for Amrit's cousin, Kiran Bala as promised in their childhood to Kiran's late father. On learning the truth, an emotionally bound Amrit decides to stay away from Randheer. Randheer though falls for Amrit for her thoughts and loving nature and confesses his love her. Initially reluctant, Amrit later reciprocates. Despite the devious schemes by Kiran and her mother, Amrit and Randheer get engaged and are whole-heartedly accepted by the families. Randheer learns that Amrit is Ranjhan.

Vashma and Uday coming to understand that their love will never be accepted by the community, decide to elope a day before Vashma's wedding to a shrewd and narrow-minded Farooq Ansari, however fail and are caught by Vashma's brother, though kept a secret. On realising the consequences the family have to face because of their act, Vashma breaks Uday's heart by coldly behaving with him and marries Farooq. Vashma is later shown to be pregnant with Uday's child and mistreated by Farooq repeatedly. A series of events bring rift between the Sahnis and the Baigs.

Farooq decides to punish Amrit for Uday's acts and attacks Om Nivas along with Abrar and his henchmen on Amrit and Randheer's marriage day on 15 August,1947. Zaheeda and Iqbal manage to distract them and let the Sahni's and Raizada's escape along with Vashma. During their escapade, Vashma's truth is revealed and Brij realises his mistake of suspecting Radha and Uday's relation while Radha was just helping Uday and Vashma. However, Amrit's parents are killed in the riots and Brij sacrifices himself to save Uday, Vashma, their unborn child and Radha, thereby fulfilling a father's responsibility for the first time. Farooq has kidnapped the three girls and intends to marry Amrit by keeping Vashma and Radha hostage. Meanwhile, Randheer disguises as a Sufi Saint and enters Farooq's mansion then he wins heart of Farooq and his family. Therefore Farooq starts marriage rituals as well as makes a tattoo of 'Amrit Farooq Ansari' on Amrit's arms, meanwhile Randheer helps freeing Radha and Vashma seeking the help of a reformed Abrar. Vashma and Uday are blessed with a baby boy. Later Randheer comes in his original form and a fight get started between Randheer and Farooq, after it Farooq escapes and ignites his house and Randhir and Amrit manage to escape to Iqbal's house, where Zaheeda and Iqbal host engagement of Vashma and Uday. They all decide to name the newborn child as Kabir. Next day they leave for India, where they are confronted by tribals but they manage to leave, Vashma realizes that her child got exchanged with son of tribals and so she rushes back to look for her Randheer goes back, Amrit, Uday and Radha manages to cross border and reach border and reach Amritsar, meanwhile Randheer gets caught by Pakistani Police and Vashma is left behind.
