Lá Ele is a song by Brazilian singer-songwriters Tierry and Manoel Gomes, released as a single in January 2023.
Background
During his visit to Salvador, Manoel Gomes met singer and composer Tierry and participated in one of his shows, singing songs such as "Caneta Azul". Tierry, in turn, invited him to record "Lá Ele" and also to record another viral song from his repertoire, "Olha, se Você não Me Ama", which had not received an official recording.[1] At the time, Tierry stated that the partnership with Manoel Gomes was also intended to help him organize the musical catalog after problems that Gomes faced with his former manager.[2]
Composition
"Lá Ele" is a composition by Tierry. The singer stated that the song is based on a popular expression of the same name from the state of Bahia, which would mean a defense in phrases with double meanings.[3][4][5] The track's musical production is by Cássio dos Santos, the musician's recurring partner.[6]
Release
"Lá Ele" was released on January 11, 2023, by the record label Virgin Music Brasil.[7] Excerpts of the song had already been leaked on social media since December 2022 and released illegally, which made the song reach millions of views even before its release.[8]
