LNG Goldboro
The Goldboro Liquid Gas Terminal, also known as LNG Terminal Goldboro is a proposed natural gas processing and loading facility located in the gas fields of northeastern Canada. It is being built near the town of Sherbrooke in the province of Nova Scotia.
The operator Pieridae Energy said in late August 2018 that they hope to start construction in early 2019. 2023, the plant should then go into operation. Liquefied natural gas production and thus also this large-scale project are controversial worldwide for reasons of nature and climate protection.[1] The terminal endangered, according to conservationists u.a. the drinking water in the region. The German Federal Government is providing up to $ 4 billion in UfK guarantee for operator Pieridae Energy on the project. In early 2013, E.ON agreed binding purchase quantities over a 20-year period with Pieridae Energy from a future plant.
The project to build the facility and also the loading and storage facilities was approved on 21 March 2014 by the Minister of Environment of Nova Scotia under the Environment Act (Nova Scotia). In December 2015, the operator purchased 107.5 hectares of land and leased 57 hectares for the construction site infrastructure of the community. The final project commitment (FID) was made at the end of 2016. The US Department of Energy (DOE) guaranteed Pieridae Energy a "long-term multi-contract authorization", ie the regulatory approval for the export of liquefied natural gas to countries under the FTA (Free Trade Agreement) and countries without an agreement (Non-free trade agreement).
Pieridae Energy announced at the end of August 2018 that he hopes to start construction in early 2019. In 2023, the plant should go into operation.
