Pusapati Laxmipati Raju (known as LP Raju) is an Indian film producer predominantly known for his works in Telugu Cinema.

Early life[edit]

LP Raju was born in Visakhapatnam. His interest in films made him come to Hyderabad.

Film Career[edit]

In 1994 LP Raju started his film career as Producer, he produced his first film Alibaba Adbutha Deepam (1995)with comedian Ali following next year he produced Akkum Bakkum (1996) with Ali again. He then started movie Apsara with director K. Vijaya Bhaskar starring Anand, Gowthami and music by M M Keeravani but was shelved for unknown reasons. He then partnered with his friends Venu Thottempudi (hero), Shyam Prasad and produced successful movies under banner SP Entertainments. Their first film Swayamvaram (1999) directed by K. Vijaya Bhaskar written by Trivikram Srinivas starring Venu Thottempudi, Laya was a huge success at box office and have won 3 Nandi Awards. Later they produced more films like Chiru Navvuto (2000) which also won 4 Nandi Awards,[citation needed] Kalyana Ramudu (2003),[citation needed] Cheppave Chirugali (2004), Sadaa Mee Sevalo (2005) and 10th Class (2006) which were all box office hits.

In 2001 Raju worked as overseas co-ordinator for movie Narasimha Naidu (2001) during this shoot he became close aide to star actor Nandamuri Balakrishna and this encouraged LP to produce movies with him.

He then became the Executive Producer for movie Lakshmi Narasimha [1] (2004) starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Asin in the lead roles this movie went on to become a decent hit.

In 2004 Raju produced Nartanasaala [2] it was Nandamuri Balakrishna's dream project and his first directional venture. It was also the first time LP Raju was producing a star hero on his own production. Cast included Nandamuri Balakrishna(Arjunudu, Brihannala, Keechakudu), Soundarya(Draupadi), Srihari (Beemudu), Uday Kiran (Abhimanyudu), Sai Kumar[disambiguation needed] (Duryodhanaudu), Kota Srinivasa Rao (Virata Raju), Sarath Babu (Dharmaraju), Asin (Uttara), Krishna Bhagavan (Uttara Kumarudu), Naveen (Nakul), Vinay (Sahadevudu). After Soundarya death [3] Gracy Singh was roped into playing Draupadi but due to unknown reasons project was shelved.

Raju again worked as overseas co-ordiantor for the movies Yogi (2007 film) and Chintakayala Ravi (2008).
