La Torre Golf Resort is on the Costa Cálida ('Warm Coast') in south east Spain. The resort was built by Polaris World and features a 5-star hotel, bars, restaurants, golf course and other leisure facilities. Building started in 2002 and completed in 2005.

Hotel[edit]

The 133 bedroom, 5-star DoubleTree by Hilton La Torre Golf & Spa Resort is located within the resort, together with several bars, restaurants, shops, a large supermarket, a bank, two tennis courts and 22 communal swimming pools of various sizes. The town centre, located in the middle of the resort near the hotel is a hub of activity, consisting of a hairdressing salon, an Irish bar, a night club, a small ice-cream shop, an Italian restaurant, a Tapas bar and a few other features. [1] Initially managed by Intercontinental hotels, the hotel closed down in 2012 and was later acquired by a Chilean group Pedro García Meroño and Facundo Armero, trading as Phoenix in 2016. From January 2019 the property is operating as DoubleTree by Hilton La Torre Golf & Spa Resort.

Golf[edit]

The Jack Nicklaus designed 18-hole par 68 golf course measures 5,350 metres, and forms part of the Polaris World Nicklaus Golf Trail.

Tennis[edit]

In September 2009, the resort played host to the Davis Cup semi-final between Spain and Israel, with crowds of up to 12,000 packing the temporary stadium erected specially for the three-day tennis event.[2]
