Laedolimicola is a genus of bacteria in the family Lachnospiraceae.[1] It contains two species with validly published names: Laedolimicola ammoniilytica and Laedolimicola intestinihominis.[1] The type strains of both species were isolated from human feces.[2][3]
Taxonomy
Its name combines the Greek word laedos, referring to an unidentified bird, the Latin word limus, meaning dung, and the suffix -cola, meaning an inhabitant. The name refers to the frequent occurrence of this bacterial lineage in bird feces.[2][1] The type species is L. ammoniilytica.[1]
