Lalit Mohan is an Indian environmentalist, who completed a PhD in Botany from Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, and founded the Society for Environment and Development in 1993. He was the founder and editor of ActaEcologica, a Science and Environment Journal, and wrote extensively for international publications. He has also been involved as P.I. in a project funded by the Department of Science and Technology for the Outcome of Research and Analysis of Extramural R&D Projects sanctioned by Central Government Agencies of the Government of India.[1][2]
He also established the Gramin Vigyan Kendra [Rural Science Center][3] under the Society for Environment and Development in the village of Digod in Kota district, Rajasthan, to foster a scientific temperament among village children and people, and to encourage the use of science and technology in agriculture to increase yields. He served as Project Leader and coordinator for a project with the Global Giving Organisation through the Society for Environment and Development.[4]

In 1998, the Global Environment Facility elected the society to its GEF-NGO Network.[7][8] This recognition was awarded for his work nationally and internationally. The Delhi Government also awarded the society with an A Grade accreditation (2013) for its work in environment and development.[9][10]
