Lancaster Steiner School, or Lancaster Independent School for Alternative Learning, is an independent co-educational school in Lancaster, England, with classes for nursery, kindergarten and grades 1–5.[5] The curriculum is based on the principles of Waldorf education established by Rudolf Steiner. In a 2010 report from Ofsted, the teaching at Lancaster Steiner School was described by inspectors as "frequently outstanding".[5][6]
Lancaster Steiner School is a member of the Steiner Waldorf Schools Fellowship and follows the Waldorf school curriculum.[7] The school applied to become a state-funded Steiner Primary School in 2014.[8] The school had earlier applied for free school status in 2010.[9]
In 2019, the school was warned by the Department for Education about failure to meet standards.[10][11] As of 2024[update], the school's most recent inspection by Ofsted was in 2023, with a judgement of Good.[12]
